Gardai in Cavan and Monaghan are advising home owners and farmers to be extra vigilant in the run-p to Christmas after a spate of robberies locally.
Between Saturday the 26th of November and Tuesday the 1st of December , a number of items were stolen from a farm in the Cloverhill/Butlersbridge area
of Cavan.
They included three rolls of barb wire; three electric fence batteries; and three drums of Agri Tox spray as well as other small items. Meanwhile, Gardai in Monaghan are investigating two incidents where tools were stolen from farm sheds in the Killevan area on the night of December the 1st, between 11pm and 7am.
The locks were cut on both occasions and a number of Milwaukee power tools were taken. Gardai across the region are currently investigating matters and are appealing to anyone who noticed anything suspicious to contact them.
Local Gardai want people to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity to them immediately. They are also advising everyone to lock and secure farm and garden sheds and install LED sensor lights outside to deter criminals and make it more difficult for them to access properties.
