Gardai confirmed the case remains open and no arrests have been made to date.

Gardaí have been unable to trace any suspects following an attack on a garda at gunpoint in Cavan over 2 and half years ago.

During the savage attack in Blacklion, Roscommon native Garda Pádraig Scott was doused in petrol and badly beaten. According to the Sunday independent he has yet to return to work more than two-and a-half years on from the assault in Co Cavan close to Loughan House.

A source has informed the Sunday Independent that there are no suspects for the attack despite a very detailed investigation. The attack against Garda Scott, which left him with memory loss issues, took place while he was driving alone in a patrol car from Cavan town to Blacklion in the early hours of February 28, 2022.
