As part of the Garda recruitment campaign there will be two information days this weekend for anyone interested in a career in An Garda Siochana. Locals are encouraged to cone and speak to members of Gardaí who will be present to help answer any questions you have. The first information event will take place tomorrow at Monaghan Shopping Centre between 11am and 1pm. The second information event will take place on Saturday at the Peace Campus beside the Garda Station in Monaghan Town. According to Gardai, this event will take place between 12pm and 2pm.
The local information events are part of a nationwide initiative to recruit more people to join An Garda Siochana. It has been confirmed that the Garda fitness test has been changed after an external review, as the force is struggling to increase is numbers as a result of too many people failing it. The sit ups and press ups have been removed and the bleep test won't be as hard.
