GSOC is investigating potential garda involvement in a Ballybay road crash last night.
The two vehicle collision occurred between Swanns Cross and Ballybay just after 9pm.
The incident occurred in the townland of Corraskea at around 9.15 last night.
A 'number' of people were injured in the crash and taken to hospital for treatment.
A local Garda Superintendent referred the incident to the Garda Ombudsman under Section 102 of the Garda Siochana Act.
That part of the act provides for independent investigation of any matter that appears to indicate that the conduct of a member of the Garda Síochána may have resulted in the death of, or serious harm to, a person.
GSOC is keen to speak to any witnesses who saw a 2005 registered Volkswagen Passat car with a blue rear right door.
Anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the Ballybay area between 8pm and 9.30pm last night, or who has dashcam footage, is asked to make contact with Castleblayney Garda Station.
This includes any garda interaction with the car.
Garda Forensic investigators and GSOC investigators remain at the scene, with the road expected to reopen after 7pm.
