Clones and Cavan Garda Stations have increased the numbers of garda members at both stations across the Northern Sound region.
Nearly one in four garda stations across the country had fewer officers to tackle crime at the start of the year compared to 12 months previously. An analysis of staffing levels at 560 garda stations across the country by the Irish Independent revealed 133 garda stations suffered a drop in garda numbers during 2022.
The research found that 189 stations had gained additional staff with garda numbers more than doubling in Clones over the period. Cavan Garda station also seen a considerable rise in garda numbers with staffing levels up 53% on the 2021 figures. In response to the latest figures. An Garda Siochana said it had reached the highest number of officers in the history of the force and had been a growing organisation until the outset of the Covid pandemic.
