Garda Commissioner Drew Harris was updated on the investigation into the murder of Paul Quinn during a visit to the region yesterday.
The 21-year-old, from Cullyhanna was beaten to death in a farm shed near Castleblayney in 2007.
The Commissioner met with local Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken, as well as inspectors and sergeants in Monaghan town and Castleblayney Garda Stations.
While there, the investigation team working on the 2007 murder gave him an update on current operations.
Earlier this month, a number of addresses were visited by PSNI and Gardai in relation to the case as part of a cross-border patrol.
Paul's mother Breege to Northern Sound recently that she still has hope of finding those responsible, and is in regular contact with local Gardai.
