No woman should be afraid of reporting abuse, regardless of who the perpetrator is.
That's the message from Siobhan McKenna of Tearmann Monaghan, after a garda was jailed for over three years for subjecting his ex-girlfriend to what was described as 'absolute hell'.
Paul Moody, who was based at Irishtown Garda Station in Dublin at the time, bombarded his ex-girlfriend with tens of thousands of abusive messages, often expressing his hope that she would die from the cancer she was battling.
Siobhan says this show the "extremes" that some perpetrators go to and that she hears similar stories every day.
