Further talks over Tara Mines future to be held today

Further talks will be held today in another attempt to halt the temporary lay off's of 650 workers at Tara Mines.

The Co. Meath mine is due to enter 'maintenance and care mode' from July 14th unless it's operator can significantly cut costs.

Union proposals to achieve savings were rejected by management yesterday.

SIPTU's John Regan is hoping the Government will intervene.
