The Gyproc mining company in Magheracloone has reported further subsidence close to the site of the 2018 collapse beneath the grounds of the local GAA club.
The news comes as Monaghan County Council has asked for further information from Gyproc on a planning application submitted to the local authority for mining at the site.
The local authority have called on the company to provide more information in regards to its plans.
County planners are putting a particular emphasis on climate impacts as well as safety issues and the effects on people, air quality, wildlife and habitats.
Gyproc reported the issue at the old Drumgoosat gypsum mine last Friday, describing it as a "surface depression" measuring seven metres wide and 60cm deep.
Gyproc issued a statement to Northern Sound News this lunchtime in which they say it was close to the area of the 2018 subsidence and 243 metres from the nearest home and 286 metres from the nearest road - the R179 which runs between Kingscourt and Carrickmacross.
They mining company added that in keeping with established protocols, the depression has been inspected, the relevant authorities have been informed and the area is fenced off with the necessary signage in place.
Council planners have listed 38 points where they say the Environmental Impact Assessment Report submitted with the application is lacking in detail or further clarity.
Meanwhile efforts by Northern Sound News to obtain a statement from Monaghan County Council in respect of the matter have been unsuccessful.
