The Chair of the Oireachtas Media Committee and local TD Niamh Smyth said further questions need to be answered surrounding transparency at RTE.
It follows the Siún Ní Raghallaig sensationally quitting as the Chair of the RTE Board overnight. Her resignation came after an appearance by the Media Minister on Prime Time, during which Catherine Martin said Ms. Ní Raghallaigh had 'misinformed' her twice this week in relation to RTE exit packages.
The former Chair said she had not made an 'intentional misrepresentation', but it was clear the Minister no longer had confidence in her. Deputy Niamh Smyth is calling on Minister Catherine Martin and her officials to come before the Oireachtas Media Committee. Deputy Smyth says this resignation really throws RTE into further disarray.
