The funeral of Annie Heyneman is taking place this afternoon at St Patrick’s Church Kilnavart Church.
The mother of five was murdered in her home on Derrycasan Lane in Kilnavart this day two weeks ago.
Hundreds of people have gathered here this afternoon to say a found farewell to Annie who was a mother, wife, neighbour, friend and all round popular local woman.
Annie Heyneman, a native of the area was found dead in her home on Saturday 11th of January after emergency services received a call of a serious incident in her family home.
There Gardai found the 55 year old deceased and her husband Henk fighting for his life for a number of days.
Their son Danny Heyneman has been charged with Annie’s murder and the attempted murder of Henk.
The funeral procession traveled the short distance along the Ballinamore Rd from Annie’s family home on Derrycasan Lane to the local church.
The parish priest of St Patrick’s Church said to the hundreds gathered both inside the candlelit church due to the power outage and the many others outside the church that Annie Heyneman's light shone brightly within the community and also her infectious laugh.
He said that she touched the lives of so many people with her kindness and compassion and her loss is a tragedy which words cannot capture.
Annie will be laid to rest following the mass in the adjoining cemetery.
