The funeral of well-known Monaghan writer Eugene McCabe takes place today.
President Michael D Higgins led tributes to him after his death was
announced on Thursday, saying he "confronted with courage issues in Irish
society".
He was well known for his writing, including his television plays on The
Troubles in the 1970s.
The 90 year old lived outside Clones and is survived by his wife Margot his
four children and 13 grandchildren.
Eugene's funeral takes place at 1 o'clock in the Sacred Heart Chapel in
Clones , followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.
His funeral cortège will leave from the chapel on foot via Fermanagh St and
The Diamond.
