A fundraiser set up for a young Co Cavan college student that has developed a brain tumour has amassed over 55,000 euro to date.

21 year-old Alison Fisher from Bailieboro suffered a major seizure at a bus stop over the summer, and was rushed to hospital after collapsing.

According to the GoFundMe set up for Alison, there were "no warning signs" leading up to this awful event, and tests were performed quickly after her arrival to hospital. The results showed that Alison had developed a brain tumour. After weeks of scans, she was transferred to Beaumont Hospital and underwent a major operation.

Alison has been informed that her treatment now needs to be carried out in Germany very soon. Alison recently turned 21 and is a final year student studying Primary School Teaching at Marino College Dublin.

According to the organiser of the fundraiser, Lorraine Harris from Super Valu in Bailieboro this is something Alison is not taking lying down. She is an amazing young woman, and her strength and determination are what keeps herself and her mum going. She is a fighter, and her resilience is making her family prouder day by day. Lorraine said this is not only physically and emotionally draining but financially overwhelming for Alison and her mum.
