Funding scheme for Christmas lights in Cavan is launched

Once off funding has been made available for towns and villages in Cavan to go towards the cost of Christmas lights.

It's hoped the scheme, which launched today, will help increase the festive atmosphere in the county.

Many groups have been unable to fundraise this year because of the pandemic and it's hoped the scheme can help bridge funding shortfalls.

Up to €3,000 can be awarded to groups for new or replacement energy efficient lighting.

Up to €300 is available as a contribution towards the purchase of Christmas trees.

However, ESB connections and the hiring of equipment will not be covered.
