A Development study for Sliabh Beagh - a rural, mountainous area which straddles north Monaghan, Fermanagh and South Tyrone - is about to get underway.
€145,475 in funding will be allocated for the area. Works involved will include identifying a range of products to create a package of interventions to support the development of sustainable tourism and outdoor recreation on Sliabh Beagh.
Cllr Cathy Bennett is Chair of the Sliabh Beagh Partnership. She says the funding will provide for works on cycle paths and walkways, and will help to turn Sliabh Beagh into a major tourist attraction.
"It is a brilliant place as it is and there is so much more that can be done with the area. This is going to become a major tourist attraction in Co Monaghan," she added.
"There are many people who have been so helpful in bringing all of this to fruition and I am very grateful to all of them."
