A Co Cavan councillor is calling for additional funding to be made available for the supply of defibrillators across communities. Sinn Fein's Noel Connell raised the matter at this week's sitting of Cavan County Council. Cllr Connell highlighted that he knows of two people who recently benefited from first responders equipment within the locality.
While he described it as a "miracle" that defibrillators were available in both instances, Cllr Connell outlined the cost that is associated with such equipment. When a defibrillator is used it must be replaced, and according to Cllr Connell, not every community or organisation has the appropriate sum of money to do that. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Connell, funding for first responders equipment is "critically" as this is a life saving service.
