Funding of €120,000 has been approved for the establishment of a UBU youth service in the Cavan Town area.
UBU provides a range of targeted services that address the specific needs of young people who may be marginalised, disadvantaged or vulnerable.
Minister for Children and Youth, Roderic O'Gorman, announced the funding as part of a one million euro allocation that will target eight areas, including Cavan Town and south Sligo.
An initial allocation of €120,000 euro per year will be provided for each new service.
Local TD Brendan Smyth complemented the CMETB on their preparation of the successful application and added that the investment is a "much needed increase in targeted youth services".
His party colleague, Niamh Smyth, also welcomed the announcement and says these "long term investments will directly benefit the young people of our communities".
