Cavan water schemes are set to receive €1,280,593.

Deputy Smyth believes that promoting participation in sport in the community is hugely important.

Prevention and intervening early is the main focus in each of the four areas.

As a volunteer-led organisation with no core government funding, SOSAD says it's confronting a "devastating funding shortfall."

"We want to secure our future and we are taking steps at the moment in order to ensure that," says Christine Wynne of SOSAD Cavan.

Minister for Rural Affairs and local TD, Heather Humphreys, said her department focused on supporting schools and sports clubs.

Cavan has been allocated €4,994,275 and Monaghan, €4,096,808 in grant funding to support local and community grassroots sports clubs.

The funding will enable the delivery of 28 projects across Cavan.
