Cavan County Council has called for a full investigation into the Belturbet
bombing.
No one has been convicted for the deaths of Geraldine O'Reilly and Patrick
Stanley in December 1972.
There have long been calls for an independent investigation into the attack
after the Barron Report failed to garner the co-operation of British
authorities.
At this week's meeting of Cavan County Council, local Councillor John Paul
Feeley called for a new investigation to take place and sought the
participation of the Stormont Executive.
He also called for a meeting with the British Ambassador in a bid to secure
files held by the British Government.
