A Cavan native has received the Freedom of London for his services to the construction sector for the past 50 years.
Frank O'Hare who hails from Maudabawn was bestowed with the honour last Friday at a special ceremony in the Guild Hall in London.
Frank said he could never have imagined all those years ago when arriving in the UK in 1972 that he would one day be afforded the Freedom of London City.
When Frank first went out to London, he first worked in the bar trade, then construction work before setting up his own construction company in 1983.
He received the award as recognition for his work for helping to establish the London Irish Construction Network, a group dedicated to helping Irish people working in the construction sector in London.
One of the perks of earning the Freedom of London is the right to drive sheep over London Bridge, a ceremonial event that happens each year.
Frank says London has certainty changed a lot over his 51 years living in the UK capital.
