The provision of free schoolbooks will alleviate economic burdens for parents of students in junior cycle, primary, and special education. That's according to local councillor, Pauric Clerkin who noted that the expansion of the program this year to include junior cycle students at secondary level, demonstrates a dedication to making education more affordable.
He says parents and guardians in County Monaghan can now feel relieved as the school year approaches, adding that he financial burden of school supplies, which can be substantial, has been lifted for primary school and Junior Cycle students. 212,000 junior cycle students across roughly 670 secondary schools across the country is to benefit from this roll out. Councillor Clerkin says this initiative will not only saves local families money but also time they would have spent gathering school supplies.
