Four people have died in a car crash in Co Armagh. The incident happened on the Ballynahonemore Road at Armagh city at around 2.10am yesterday. The driver and three passengers, who have not yet been formally identified, were pronounced dead at the scene. It's understood the four people who died were in their 20s while police remain at the scene this morning.
Police remained at the scene and the Ballynahonemore Road was closed for most of the day. PSNI District Commander Superintendent Paul McGrattan said this is "an unspeakable tragedy for the families involved, and for the wider community, who will understandably struggle to comprehend such loss of life. A thorough and sensitive investigation is now under way and anyone with information that could assist us is asked to get in touch with the Collision Investigation Unit."
Separately, a pedestrian in his 40s died following a road collision which happened in Newry. The crash, involving the man and a car, happened on the Forkhill Road at around 10.40pm on Saturday. The man was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries.
