Four men have been charged and will appear in court later today following an armed garda chase from across the border and through the county of Monaghan.
On Saturday evening last Gardaí in Castleblayney received a report from colleagues in the PSNI of a car “acting suspiciously” which had crossed over south of the border.
The car was intercepted near Clontibret but failed to stop for Gardaí and continued travelling at speed towards Castleblayney.
With assistance of units from Carrickmacross, Monaghan, Ardee and the Armed Support Unit four men were apprehended.
Following the arrests the four men were detained for questioning at Castleblayney and Carrickmacross Garda Stations.
They have been charged with theft related offences and will appear in Court later this morning.
