Former President of the ICA Mamo McDonald has died.
The 91 year old was well known across the country for her role in the organisation and for her work campaigning for women's rights.
She received a People of the Year Award in 1999 in recognition of her work.
She spoke last year about her recovery from Covid-19 which she contracted early in the pandemic.
Mamo passed away in St Anne's Nursing Home in Ballybay yesterday. She was predeceased by her husband Eugene and son Vincent.
Tributes have been paid to her. Clones GAA has passed on its condolences to her family and Monaghan Age Friendly has praised her as a "lifelong campaigner for women's rights".
Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
