A former Cavan-Monaghan district judge has resigned from Fianna Fáil after becoming "completely disillusioned" with the party.
Sean MacBride, who also served as a Donegal Councillor, said the party had “lost its Republicanism and forgotten its working class roots”.

In a statement, he said it was “childish” to refuse to talk to Sinn Féin and that this decision “disrespected Sinn Féin and their voters in a manner which is not consistent with democracy”.

MacBride served as the District Judge in Cavan-Monaghan from 2004 to 2015.
In his statement, MacBride says he “cleaned up the area and stood up for the good people of Cavan and Monaghan in opposing the dissident IRA, fuel smugglers, criminals and drug dealers”.
