The former Chair of Cavan IFA says parents are to blame for the lack of women in farming.
Elizabeth Ormiston was speaking as her four year term came to an end this week, with the election of her successor Maurice Brady.
She there's always been a mind-set within agriculture that doesn't recognise women for their work on a farm, and was critical that the IFA itself is "regressing to the dark ages" on gender equality.
Elizabeth told Shannonside Northern Sound that a change in attitude is overdue.
