A former Cavan District Superintendent has been appointed to the rank of Assistant Commissioner and takes up the post today.
Angela Willis has served An Garda Síochána for the past 30 years and most recently served as a Detective Chief Superintendent with the National Bureau of Crime Investigation.
She also acted as Superintendent in the Cavan District from 2010 to 2012.
Ms Willis has also held the role of Detective Chief Superintendent with the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, as well working across the Serious Crime Review Team and the Garda National Immigration Bureau.
She was appointed to the role last week, and Garda Commissioner Drew Harris welcomed the news and said Ms Willis brings extensive experience and knowledge to the position.
