A former British MP has said Kingspan should face prosecution over the Grenfell Tower fire. Michael Gove is a senior figure in the Tory party and was housing secretary during the aftermath of the 2017 London disaster.
Kingspan insulation products were used in part of the residential tower block when a devastating fire broke out killing 72 people inside. Last week, Kingspan welcomed the final report into the tragedy, which the company says "clearly and unambiguously" explains that the type of insulation used on the residential tower block was "immaterial"
Writing in the Sunday Times, Mr Gove criticises the three firms responsible for the Grenfell building cladding including two French companies and Kingspan. He said attempts to hold Kingspan and the others to account were blocked by "bureaucracies" and that French and Irish governments were reluctant to take action against companies in their jurisdictions. "The task now falls to others to secure the justice I sought but failed to bring," the former minister wrote.
