Three closure orders were served on businesses in Cavan and Monaghan last month by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.
A café in Cavan and two Monaghan takeaways were among the ten orders made around the country in July.
The FSAI ordered closures on Fredis Pizzeria on Dublin Street in Monaghan town, Fredis Takeaway in Castleblayney, and the Riverside Café in Mountnugent.
Fredies Pizzeria was found to be in breach of seven food safety regulations, including that the premises had food debris and grease on equipment, walls and floor.
There was also a lack of protection of food from contamination, or to prevent insects entering the building.
The closure order was lifted six days after inspection.
Fredies Takeaway was in breach of four regulations.
Inspectors found drainage facilities were not maintained, that there wasn't adequate pest control and that hazard analysis training wasn't being implemented.
The FSAI lifted the closure order 17 days after it was put in place.
Five reasons were given for the closure of the Riverside Café, that the premises was very unclean, there were gaps in the rear door which could let in rodents and there were issues with the size and facilities in the kitchen.
The FSAI says it's particularly concerned over the large number of Enforcement Orders in July, and is emphasising that food businesses have a responsibility to maintain clean and hygienic premises.
