When the Education Minister came to Monaghan yesterday for some official engagements she also agreed to meet parents of children with additional needs who have been campaigning for a special school for the county.
The last minute meeting was arranged by Norma Foley's Fianna Fáil colleague, Senator Robbie Gallagher, and attended by two local parents. A delegation from the campaign group previously met with Norma Foley at the Dáil in June when she told them that their case for a new special school was "under review" until the end of the year.
Parents were left frustrated after the Dáil meeting as they feel carrying out a review into whether Monaghan needs a special school or not is like starting from Ground Zero.
