Road-users are being warned of extremely dangerous conditions in some parts this morning. A status yellow fog warning will remain in place for 22 counties, including Cavan and Monaghan until 11am. Dense fog patches are lingering in places - but Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel says they should clear by this afternoon.
"Certainly, through the early hours of this morning, we do expect that that fog will be quite dense in places,” climatologist Cathal Nolan said. "Especially more inland locations, especially across the Midlands and maybe across the east as well.
"So, certainly do give yourself that little bit of extra time to get to work this morning and keep your distance, of course, and put on your fog lights when driving in dense fog."
