There are reports of flooding in parts of Cavan this afternoon.

The County Council is warning of surface flooding close to McDonald’s on the Dublin road in Cavan town.

Motorists are urged to exercise “extreme caution” in the area.

Flooding is also reported on the Killeshandra to Cavan town road.

Meanwhile, a stop-go system is in place on the R199 road between Killeshandra and Crossdoney after a section of the road collapsed.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for heavy rainfall for Cavan and Monaghan until 9 o'clock tonight.
