More resources are needed to deal with flooding issues across Co Cavan. That's the view of Cllr Peter McVittty who told this month's meeting of Cavan County Council that flooding was becoming a "serious problem" across the county.
He says gullies needed to be cleaned more regularly - an effort that was the responsibility of the local authority.
Cllr McVitty pointed out that, as a society, we all need to start becoming better prepared for future weather patterns, because of climate change. He added that flood prone areas need particular attention now.
"I would love to see more people being employed by the Council. Down through the years there has always been pressure for money and resources in organisations.
"When you do get money it can be spent well. Definitely we need more staff if at all possible and I know that if more staff are needed we will do our best to get them," said the local councillor.
