The HSE has confirmed to local Sinn Féin TD, Matt Carthy, that there are five critical positions unfilled within Monaghan's Children's Disability Network team.
According to information provided to the local TD, Monaghan is short an Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Psychologist and a part-time Physiotherapist. The HSE have told the Sinn Féin TD that there are currently 4.5 vacant posts within Children's Disability Services in County Monaghan.
For many years, Deputy Carthy has referred to Monaghan as "the forgotten county" in terms of disability services. He said the empty posts will not come as a surprise to the many families with children and loved ones on waiting lists:
