They had just moved the ewes in-lamb to a nursery field when overnight on Saturday into Sunday a dog attacked the flock.

Inniskeen sheep farmers, Eamonn and Niamh Monahan, took the conscientious decision to post photos of their pedigree ewes following a dog attack to make people aware of what their dog could be capable off.

The father and daughter farmers rear pedigree Texel's in Inniskeen.

They had just moved the ewes in-lamb to a nursery field when overnight on Saturday into Sunday a dog attacked the flock killing five animals and scaring three rams and a ewe expecting twins down a bank into a drain.

Their most precious ewe, which delivered a single lamb every year, was pregnant with triplets for the first time when it had its hind leg ripped away from its body in the sickening attack.

Eamonn and Niamh told the Joe Finnegan Show why they wanted the public to see the graphic aftermath photographs. Meanwhile, the County Veterinary Officer for Monaghan County Council, Brendan Smith, had this to say to concerned farmers and local dog owners.
