The Hot School Meals programme is set to be significantly expanded this year, with five schools across the Northern Sound region set to benefit.
Nationwide, the programme will be rolled out to around 35,000 students across 189 schools that do not have canteen or kitchen facilities on site.
Announcing the expansion today, Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys said it's an almost five fold increase on the number last year.
In Cavan, St Clare's Primary School has been chosen for the programme.
Across Monaghan, four schools have been chosen: Scoil Naomh Deagha; Scoil Naomh Padraig; Scoil Cholmcille National School; and Scoil Mhuire Boys School.
