Police in Fermanagh received a report of an altercation in the Lough Shore Road area of Enniskillen shortly after 1pm yesterday afternoon.
It was reported that a conference, which was being held in the area Lough Erne Resort had been disrupted by protestors and an altercation broke out.
It is believed trouble broke out when protestors confronted members of the far-right National Party who were holding a conference at the luxury hotel.
In a statement to Northern Sound, officers attended the incident and calm was restored a short time later.
Two people were treated at the scene for their injuries with a further four taken to hospital via ambulance with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening at this time.
One man, aged 34, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He remains in police custody at this time.
PSNI enquiries are ongoing and a public appeal has been issued to anyone who has any information in relation to this incident to contact police.
Meanwhile, the Lough Erne Resort has "apologised" for any inconvenience caused to guests.
In a statement posted to social media yesterday evening, the five-star resort revealed that it was "grateful" for local emergency services who attended the incident with a "speedy response."
It added that the incident was an "isolated incident" and that it would be business as usual at the resort with guest check-ins taking place as normal.
