Fire crews across Cavan and Monaghan are encouraging more females to join the service as part of a new recruitment campaign for 2024.
Fire crews across Cavan and Monaghan are on the hunt for additional crew members. Speaking to Northern Sound, Monaghan's Chief Fire Officer, Dermot Brannigan said that the recruitment of more female staff is a "key target" at both local and national level, as well as the involvement of minority groups within local communities. In Monaghan alone, the fire service is seeking an additional three crews in each of the four stations including Clones, Ballybay, Carrickmacross and Castleblayney, with a view to provide a six on and six off rota for fire fighters.
