A number of motorists were fined for speeding following a Gardaí operation in Cavan yesterday. Members of the Cavan Roads Policing Unit conducted speed checks as part of Operation Slow Down.
According to local Gardaí, all drivers received Fixed Payment Notices with a fine and points attached for travelling at excessive speed in the 100kmph speed limit. One motorist was detected speeding at 131 kilometres, while another was caught travelling at 145 kilometres. Gardaí are encouraging local drivers to "take heed" and "don't speed" in a bid to improve overall road safety and reduce fatalities.
