A Fine Gael Election Convention will take place this evening to fill the seat vacated by Mary Kerr Conlon.
Mary Kerr Conlon announced her retirement from politics last month, after 25 years of public service.
The vote, which will be chaired by Senator John McGahon, will take place in the Shirley Arms Hotel at around 7.30pm, with registration starting at 6.30pm.
The seat will be contested between Peter Conlon Jr, who is Mary Kerr Conlon's son, and Pat Cassidy, who ran in the 2019 local elections.
All Fine Gael members from the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD are invited to attend.
