A Cavan-Monaghan TD has said now that the dates for the government's cost of living lump sum supports are released, she hopes it will provide certainty for households across the Northern Sound region. Deputy Niamh Smyth said the dates for nine lump sum payments, paid between this November and January 2024, should bring some "peace of mind" to pensioners, carers, people living with disabilities and families.
This week, lump sum payments including a €400 carer's support grant and €200 to people in receipt of the Living Alone Allowance was distributed. There are double child benefit payments planned for the beginning of December and double social welfare payments in time for Christmas and again in January.
All the lump sum and double payments are automatically paid, so people do not need to apply for them. Deputy Niamh Smyth says she hopes they will "help ease the pressure many households are currently facing".
