2,800 premises in Monaghan town and 2,500 premises in Carrickmacross are set to receive state of the art fibre broadband through Siro. The announcement was made during a presentation by the company at a recently held Carrickmacross/Castleblayney Municipal District meeting.
Those gathered heard the company will access areas Alderwood, Cluain Alainn, Coill An Rí, Farney Street, The Elms, Castleblayney Road and Saint McCartan’s Villa in Carrickmacross while in Monaghan town, Drumbear Lawn, Dublin Street, Tully Estate, Belgium Park, Doctor McKenna Park, Montfort, and Manor Wood have been earmarked for the installation.
Homes and businesses will be able to connect to the network during the first six months of next year. The roll out is part of SIRO’s ongoing national network expansion to 770,000 premises across 154 towns.
Monaghan County Council's Director of Services for the local municipal district, Carmel O'Hare, said there was appreciation across the county for the rollout. "We are delighted to welcome Siro to Co Monaghan and to see SIRO commence their broadband rollout in the Carrickmacross and Monaghan town areas.
"The rollout of the Siro network throughout Carrickmacross marks a milestone for the urban area and will offer significant broadband improvements for all of the many business interests in the town and for residential customers."
