The Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Chair says he anticipates a "good strong" debate on the party's electoral performance at the think-in in Cavan today.
An internal report into the party's recent poor general election performance found that members feel the party has no clear identity.
That report is first on the agenda at the party's Think-in in the Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell.
Parliamentary Party Chair and local TD Brendan Smith said "there will be no limit on the opened-ended debate".
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Smith added that the think-in will also provide an opportunity to focus on issues affecting Cavan and Monaghan:
Meanwhile, Taoiseach Micheál Martin dismissed claims that up to 15 TDs would support a motion of no confidence in him.
