Fianna Fail will host it's party convention for the Cavan-Monaghan constituency next week. That's according to election candidate and current Fianna Fail TD, Niamh Smyth who confirmed the news to Northern Sound. According to Deputy Smyth the event will take place next Tuesday, October 29th at the Errigal Country House Hotel in Cootehill.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Smyth described her party as "ambitious" adding that this year will be no different to the last election when it comes to opting for a three candidate strategy. It is expected that Deputy Niamh Smyth, Deputy Brendan Smith and Monaghan's Robbie Gallagher will all be selected to run in the upcoming General Election.
Deputy Smyth told Northern Sound; "HQ contacted me on Friday to say that they would be in contact with all of the candidates going forward and that convention is to be held next Tuesday so all eyes will be on the Errigal Hotel. As a party we've always been very ambitious, we've run three in the past in my last two elections and I don't expect my third to be any different. I think there will be a three candidate strategy as we always work to be ambitious in order to represent the constituency well."
