Fewer workers here can afford to take a holiday.
Research done by the European Trade Union Confederation found almost 15 per cent of working people in Ireland could not afford a week's holiday either at home or abroad in 2022, the year when the cost-of-living crisis hit. It was almost 4 per cent more than the year before, and was the highest increase seen in EU member states. Clare Dunne - Chief Executive of the Irish Travel Agents Association - says everyone in work should be able to afford to get away and take a break.
