The much-anticipated Patrick Kavanagh Festival takes places in Inniskeen from the 29th of September next.
There's massive line up of events that will celebrate the poetry and creativity of the internationally renowned local poet.
This year's three-day festival will kick off with soundings from Wexford poet Thomas McCarthy who is a previous winner of the Patrick Kavanagh Award.
Over the weekend, singer Lisa O'Neill from Cavan will perform; Blindboy will be on hand; and there will be numberous workshops, tours of the county and children's activities.
Darren McCreesh, Manager of the Patrick Kavanagh Centre, says that Lisa O'Neill's latest album has been inspired by the local poet's 'The Great
Hunger' - one of his many poems that has garnered international acclaim.
Mr McCreesh added that people from "wide and far" are expected in Co Monaghan to celebrate the works of Patrick Kavanagh at the end of this
month.
"We do quite a bit of work with schools in terms of bringing Kavanagh to life," he continued. "We talk about the fact that he's exceptional when it
comes to observational detail. We talk about his creativity and how all of us can be creative and how we can fire our own imagination.
That creativity is inherent in everybody and we have a wonderful new production now called 'The Land of 100 Little Hills' which was inspired by
Kavanagh's poem - A Christmas Childhood - and that will be touring the country. It was produced by Ceoil Connected and Thomas Johnson who is from Scotstown."
