A family car skidded across a road and into Lough Foyle in Donegal last night killing a father and his two children.
This tragedy happened at twenty past ten last night when the family were travelling home from a day trip to Derry.
The car was travelling from Muff towards Quigley's Point when the driver lost control and the car skidded across the road and plunged into Lough Foyle.
A 49 year old man and his two children, a 14 year old boy and a 6 year old girl were killed.
The 45 year old mother of the children managed to escape the vehicle and get help, she is recovering in hospital.
Three bodies have since been recovered from the water and taken to the Letterkenny University Hospital Mortuary where post mortems will take place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward or anyone who may have seen a black Mistubishi ASX in the area last night.
