Mourners will gather in Laois today for the funeral of a father and son who died while on holiday in Turkey last week. The remains of Eoin Fitzpatrick and his 10 year old Dylan were repatriated in recent days after their deaths in a road crash last Monday.
They'll be laid to rest in Portlaoise this afternoon, following a joint funeral mass in St. Peter and Paul's Church at 12 o'clock.
Parish Priest, Monsignor John Byrne says they are a community in mourning. "It's hard to comprehend losing a son and a grandson, I know there will be a huge outpouring of sympathy for the family and we hope in some way that will console and help them know how loved and supported they are," he said.
