A Cavan charity shop will celebrate one year in business by hosting a fashion evening later this week. 'Wild wardrobe' was created by Caroline Van Den Berg and Joanna Birsanu as a Covid project and has only gone from strength to strength since its inception.
Not only does the charity shop offer fashionable and affordable clothing to local families, at a time when it is needed most, but all profit from the store goes towards the protection of native Irish wildlife.
After initially starting as an online project, Wild Wardrobe will celebrate one year at its store in Convent Court on Main Street Cavan (beside Insomnia Cafe), with plans to open a second store in the months ahead.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Caroline Van Den Berg said it's important that her business is as accessible to members of the public as possible and thanked members of the public for their ongoing support. To mark the one year anniversary of 'Wild Wardrobe' donations will also be made to charity beneficiaries on the night.
She added; "Many years ago in Ireland, there was stigma attached to second hand stores and I think that has definitely shifted. This is through the climate change initiative, and we see a lot of the younger generation coming into our store which us great."
The event will take place this Thursday evening from 6pm until 9pm, and is predominantly about formal wear for occasions such as First Holy Communion, Confirmations and other formal events, Caroline also revealed that the shop will be fully re-stocked with new items for customers to enjoy on the night.
