A large non-residential farm near Drum in Co Monaghan, has sold at auction for €1.15m or €13,372 per acre.
According to the Irish Farmers Journal it's one of the highest prices paid for a farm in the area. The 86 acre farm at Tonagimsy was expected to meet good interest when put on the market by Eamonn Gaffney Auctioneers. Close to the border between Cavan and Monaghan, the farm is within 5km of Cootehill, with winter accommodation for cattle, handling facilities, good road frontage and a good water supply.
However, when offered in an in-person and online auction this week it well exceeded the €10,000/ac guide price.
